Music and cinema for the 73rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 60th of Amnesty InternationalIt will happen on December 10th and 11th in Rovigo, with two evenings organized by Voices for Freedom and Amnesty International in collaboration with the Cinema Teatro Duomo and with a rich cast of artists, names such as Cisco, Giulio Casale, Elisa Erin Bonomo, Do'Storieski, Marmaja, Chiara Patronella and the director Fabio Masi. The two-day event will be hosted by the Cinema Teatro Duomo in Rovigo and included in the "Week of Solidarity".

It starts on Friday 10 December, the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the screening of “Candle in Barbed Wire“, on sixty years of Amnesty International’s battles, in the presence of director Fabio Masi. The docufilm features prominent participants, with interviews with Ilaria Cucchi, Abou Bakar Soumahoro, Antonio Pappano and Erri De Luca and testimonies from various parts of the world: from Mexico with Marisela Ortiz, from Brazil with Monica Benicio, Marielle Franco’s partner, from Birmingham with Ruhal Ahmed, wrongfully detained for three years in Guantanamo prison.

Also appearing, among others, are Veronica Pivetti, Gianmarco Saurino, Flavio Insinna, Moni Ovadia, and Roy Paci, with readings and performances filmed in a prestigious location: the Colosseum, a symbolic monument, illuminated for many years whenever there is an amnesty around the world.

Following will be a concert/interview with Cisco, born Stefano Bellotti, historic singer of the Modena City Ramblers, which he left in 2005 after more than 10 years, 700.000 records sold and over 1.200 dates in Italy and Europe. With the Modena City Ramblers he won the Amnesty International Italy Award, Big section in 2005 for the song “Ebano”, while as a soloist in 2009 his “Multumesc” was among the ten nominations for the award.

Cisco made his solo debut in 2006 with the album "La lunga notte," followed over the years by "Il mulo," "Fuori i secondi," "Matrimoni e funeri," "Indiani e Cowboy" and the live albums "dal vivo – volume 1 and volume 2." He recently released "Canzoni dalla soffitta + Live dalla soffitta," an intimate and thoughtful project on the threshold of his 30-year career. The double album features 24 tracks: 12 new songs from collaborations with artists such as Phil Manzanera, Simone Cristicchi, Dan Chiorboli, and Tamani Mbeya, as well as an equal number of tracks from his extensive career.

Saturday 11 December the evening will be entirely dedicated to music, with many Venetian artists who have graced the stage of the Voci per la libertà festival over the course of almost a quarter of a century. The evening will open with Marmaja (Popular Jury Award in 2014), followed by Chiara Patronella (finalist in 2019), then the Do'Storieski (winners of the Amnesty Award in the Emerging section in 2016) and Elisa Erin Bonomo (Critics Award in 2017). Closing the evening Giulio Casale, already a guest as frontman of Estra in 2000 and as a soloist on various occasions.

Marmaja's musical history dates back to the 1993s, although they were conventionally formed in 1994. Their growing interest in folk music led them to stand out among the newcomers at the XNUMX edition of Arezzo Wave, where they shared the stage with Johnny Clegg. They have been on the music scene for many years, receiving numerous national accolades, critical acclaim, and songwriting awards. They have released a wide range of studio and live albums, collections and compilations, soundtracks, and concerts. They blend folk with songwriting, knowing how to speak to the heart and bring the party to life, telling the story of life.

Clear Patronella is a singer-songwriter and musician from Puglia. Graduated in Psychology and Music Education for Disabilities, she works as a social educator and music teacher. She plays, sings and composes in the folk music group Almakàntica and has a solo project. Her first album, “Like the Swallows” presents 13 songs-stories that tell of migrations, death factories, dreams and folklore. Her second album, Poligoni Irregolari, was released on October 1, 2021, which saw the participation of many musicians, some of whom recorded directly from Iraqi Kurdistan, where she is involved in a project. She has performed in many festivals both nationally and internationally.

I Do'Storieski were born in 2011 from the collaboration of Leo Miglioranza and Alberto Cendron. Both experienced authors seized the opportunity to work together on the project “Osteria” to which they dedicated themselves with commitment. The osteria, a life experience that unites the two (Leo had grandparents who were innkeepers and spent part of his childhood there - Alberto worked in more than one historic osteria during his years of study), was thus chosen as a physical place to talk about the plain and its inhabitants, capturing its most comical and contradictory side. Glimmers of life, dark ravines where immigration, changes, contradictions, petty crime, alcoholism and unexpected brotherhood are hidden. They are currently recording “In fuga”, their sixth album.

Elisa Erin Bonomo She is a Venetian guitarist and singer-songwriter. In 2017, she released her debut album, "Antifragile," entirely crowdfunded.

In his intense live activity as a soloist and with bands, he opens concerts for Nada, Daniele Silvestri, Diodato, Nathalie, Maria Antonietta, Chiara Dello Iacovo, and Clavdio. His second album, "Sinusoide," was released at the end of November 2021, split into two EPs ("Lato A" and "Lato B"), expressing the artist's exact duality, straddling the dark-wave-tinged rock of his previous album "Antifragile" on Side A and the acoustic atmospheres bordering on world music on Side B.

Giulio Casale has a career spanning more than twenty years as a singer, actor and writer. Well known for his independent and uncompromising attitude, he has a large and loyal following that makes him one of the most interesting contemporary artists. He was the leader of Estra, one of the most important groups in Italian music in the 90s. Giulio Casale has released several solo albums between 2002 and 2021. He has published several books of poetry and fiction, as well as critical texts on artists such as Giorgio Gaber and Jeff Buckley. In this branch of his activity he has received several awards. He is also active in several theater productions including “Polli di allevamento”, “Canzone di Nanda”, “Le cattivo strade”, “Sogno di un'Italia 1984-2004” and “Le notti bianche”.

The initiative is organized by: Associazione Voci per la Libertà and Amnesty International in collaboration with Zico. It is part of the events of the “Week of Solidarity” at the Duomo cinema theater, realized within the project “C.Ed.Ro 2” with the Municipality of Rovigo.

Both evenings, with free admission, will start at 21pm. Entrance with green pass and by reservation through the website www.cinemaduomo.it
