Is titled "Business” the new unreleased track from the English indie rock band The Doubtful Bottle, released on November 12th by Neil Grant Music Production.
Recorded at The Levellers' Metway Studios in Brighton with production from Jake Rousham (who has worked with bands such as The Who) and the band's singer and guitarist John Gillies, “Business” winks at The Clash as well as a typical reggae groove.
A current song, which highlights how we live in a world governed by social media, which sees us all in everyone's pockets between reality and fiction, unable to resist the news and gossip of others. All virtually close, with the need to shout to the whole world who we are, what we think and who we would like to be.
The release of “Business”, following the previous single “Satellite”, continues to fuel curiosity about the band’s next album, currently in progress.
Led by songwriter John Gillies and singer Genevieve Gillies with the addition of guitarist Lee Potter, bassist Nathan Reeves and drummer Jim Beadle, the North Yorkshire band continue to make waves after receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences in the UK and other European countries including Italy, where they toured in 2019.
Their folk background led them to work with legend Judy Dyble (Fairport Convention), while John and Genevieve's vocal interplay and mix of indie-rock and grunge gave birth to a sensual and energetic noise, supported by catchy melodies and frenetic rhythms.
Defined by the BBC as a “frantic interdimensional cool rock band” and compared to artists such as Blondie, The Young Knives and XTC, The Doubtful Bottle debuted in 2017 with the successful single “Can't Climb Any Higher” (2017), followed by “Wait For Love”, “Trickery”, “Eye” and “Satellite”.
