"Capri and the blue light” is a precious work written by Stephanie Sonnentag, which offers the reader an unprecedented and extraordinary guide to discovering the most beloved island in the world.
Il libro sarà presentato al pubblico nello spazio eventi la Feltrinelli Libri e Musica di Napoli (piazza dei Martiri), giovedì 3 febbraio, alle 18.
The author will be joined by the gastronome Claudio Novelli and the journalist Guido Barendson, who, in his preface, describes the book as “a cultured and never pedantic literary guide, which offers a path to be slowly consumed, a road along which villas and writers, hotels and loves, corners burned by the salt and passions devoured by the flesh, turquoise waters and romantic poems intertwine”.
Before the presentation, institutional greetings are expected from the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Germany Stefano Ducceschi.
The book, written in Italian and translated into English by Kenneth White, is enriched by many photographs showing panoramas, villas immortalized from the outside and from the inside with elegant and sumptuous rooms and characteristic streets of the blue island.
For each place shown, the stories of the space and of the historical figures are told, the great emperors who built that place and also the stories of the great exponents of international culture who lived there and who composed poems, wrote books, and created works of art.
Painstaking research, the consultation of many literary sources and private collections, and visits to institutes, libraries, archives, and foundations make “Capri and its blue light” a fascinating editorial work that reveals the great magic of one of the most sought-after travel destinations.
Stefanie Sonnentag is a German author and art historian. She has lived in Naples and Capri for over 25 years. She loves the island and has a deep knowledge of Capri's literary history.
