Napoli. The number of comprehensive schools in Naples that have joined the anti-Covid-17 vaccination campaign for children aged 19 to 5 has risen to 11. Vaccination centers have been set up within each school to administer the vaccine to students.
The latest to open is the hub at the Piscicelli Institute in the Arenella neighborhood, inaugurated this morning in the presence of Mia Filippone, Deputy Mayor and Education Councilor for the City of Naples. The vaccination rate for those aged 5-11, Filippone explained, "in December was no more than 5%, now we're at 17%."
Filippone emphasized that "schools are once again demonstrating their unwavering attention and willingness to meet the needs of families in their communities, and as always, they are on the front lines. Many have responded to the appeal, first from the Region and then from us at the Municipality. If all goes as planned, we should have at least 2 vaccination hubs in schools within 3-20 weeks."
It is a highly educational message from a social perspective that schools are vaccinating, a message addressed "not only to children but also to adults who have not yet been vaccinated. It is an appreciable act for the symbolic value that schools represent.
Our goal is to help, encourage, and push the vaccination campaign, including in schools, to combat the pandemic and return to normalcy as quickly as possible. We all need it, especially the youngest. Schools have been the sector that has suffered the most from the consequences of the Covid outbreak.
