Severe weather is arriving in Italy. The North Atlantic low pressure system that has been hitting Great Britain and other European countries in recent days will reach Italy in the next few hours and cross the entire country, bringing strong winds, even gale force, from north to south.

Based on available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection has issued a weather alert predicting strong to gale-force winds from overnight in Sardinia, the Aosta Valley, Piedmont, and Lombardy, extending tomorrow to the autonomous province of Bolzano and Veneto, with gusts of strong gale force or storm force in the Alpine regions and coastal areas and mountains of Sardinia.

Strong to gale-force winds, starting late Monday morning, will also affect Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, and Sicily. Strong storm surges are also expected along exposed coasts.

And for these reasons, tomorrow and Tuesday, the mayor of Pozzuoli, Vincenzo Figliolia, has ordered the precautionary closure of the municipal cemetery, the Monterusciello cycle path, and the city's public parks (Villa Avellino, Oasi di Monte Nuovo, and Parco Urbano di via Vecchia delle Vigne).

The measure was adopted in light of the weather warning issued by the Campania Region Civil Protection, which predicts strong winds and rough seas. Residents are advised to exercise caution near trees and vertical structures for possible falling branches, trees, lampposts, signs, scaffolding, and parts of cornices, and to secure or remove any loose items and objects that could be blown away from windows and balconies.
