"This time has brought out more clearly all the pastoral, theological and spiritual problems that the Church has been dealing with for decades. I often hear people repeat: it's all the pandemic's fault. The pandemic is to blame, and many, but let's not blame the pandemic for things it doesn't have."
Thus said the Archbishop of NAPLES, Don Mimmo Battaglia, in his homily on the occasion of the 'Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple', exactly one year after taking office as head of the Curia of NAPLES.
"The faithful - he added - must be sought one by one, with discretion, but also with delicacy, care, sincere attention. We need to rediscover the beauty of relationships within our communities." And this at a time when "our communities are marked by work, economic and social hardship.
It is a great challenge for the Church, a time in which to experience anew the love of God that does not fail and to which we respond concretely today, with our yes. Even in the pastoral journey there is a transformation to be made, first of all in terms of availability to change, to a conversion to be lived in the transparency of choices, in shared goals”.
