To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini, the exhibition “100 Pasolini” in the cities of Casalnuovo di Napoli and Brusciano, starting from May 20th.
Photos, in particular, play a very important role in telling the story of Pasolini. Images have made him an “icon” of his time: we have learned to recognize Pasolini’s face among a thousand others, for a persistence of his somatic characteristics and for a progressive emphasis that increased year after year.
It promises to be an exhibition of extraordinary beauty, carefully organized by the association “Una Citta' Che…” of Casalnuovo di Napoli.
For the occasion, the artist Giuseppe Castiello created a realistic portrait of Pasolini, executed in graphite and dry pastels. Pasolini is imagined by the artist in a position that everyone on this earth has assumed in the last 15 years... and no one has been "excluded", a simple gesture: Pasolini looking at his smartphone. Because if he had been alive he would have done it.
"Through our research and the collection of material to exhibit, we have managed to build an archive of extraordinary interest on the life of the multifaceted author. From private collectors, historic bookshops and small art galleries or study centres, we have acquired a series of “photographs” of the time, taken of Pasolini by great photographers of the so-called “Dolce Vita” period such as Vittorio La Verde, Ezio Vitale, Mario Dondero, to name just a few.
But also "first editions" and "numbered editions" of many of his literary works, and original "poster" of his most famous films”, says Giovanni Nappi, curator of the exhibition.
The initiative received the moral patronage of the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Center of Casarsa della Delizia, in Friuli.
The Casalnuovo di Napoli exhibition, which will be held from 10 to 12 June, will be financed by the Campania Region, with the annual contribution granted to the Libraries that operate in the regional territory.
The appointment with the exhibition, at the small Museo Biblioteca Sociale Giacomo Leopardi in Casalnuovo di Napoli, at Via Roma 148, is for Friday 10 June from 19.00, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, instead, it will be possible to visit the exhibition from 10.00 to 13.30.
For the weekend it is possible to book a “guided tour”, by sending an email to unacittache@gmail.com
Before reaching the city of Casalnuovo di Napoli, where the material will remain permanently, the “100 Pasolini” initiative will stop in Brusciano, hosted by the Museo Cripta Cristo Rivelato located in Via C. Cucca, 338.
A twinning desired by the Association “Fronte Comune” and sponsored by the Municipality of Brusciano.
