Legambiente: “Acerra Incinerator Fourth Line? No Thanks. The Solution is to Get Out of the Stalemate in Which Separate Waste Collection in Campania Is”
Mariateresa Imparato (Legambiente):"The solution is not the fourth line of Acerra, but to get out of the stalemate in which separate waste collection is in Campania and focus on a virtuous and sustainable cycle with recycling plants."
“Sometimes they come back - comments - or rather sometimes they try again! With tired and repetitive words: an incineration policy that projects us into the past. Acerra has already given and the fourth line demonstrates The failure of the regional waste policy.
For a scheduled or to be scheduled stop, it is necessary to plan the alternatives that mainly pass through the relaunch of a separate collection that has been at a standstill for years in some territories, despite the huge effort of hundreds of recycling municipalities that make important collection performances.
There is a climate and social challenge to win, but there is a ruling class that is not very courageous and instead of being farsighted and looking to the future continues to invest in the logic of the past. An appeal - concludes the regional President of Legambiente - to the mayors and communities in which recycling plants must be built starting from anaerobic digesters, to get out of the Nimto and Nimby syndrome and build useful plants that deny the incineration policy to demonstrate that even in Campania it is possible to create the circular economy as already demonstrated by dozens of virtuous companies.
The real challenge is to transform the Acerra stop into an opportunity to finally trigger a virtuous model of separate waste collection and recycling in Campania that leads to the development of the circular economy."
In a note Mariateresa Imparato, president of Legambiente Campania to express her clear opposition to the statements of the President of the Region Vincenzo De Luca on the relaunch of the fourth line of the Acerra incinerator to deal with the maintenance of the other lines planned in a few years.
