She told her younger sister that she had “made a mess” by asking to be taken “to the Carabinieri”.
Rosa Fabbiano, 58 years old, has been in the San Vittore prison in Milan since yesterday, accused of voluntary homicide, contempt and concealment of a corpse. The woman killed and dismembered her 84-year-old mother, Lucia Cipriano, in Melzo in the province of Milan.
The woman's body was found two days ago after two months of decomposition, partially sectioned with a saw, the pieces in a tub, and discovered after the intervention of one of the victim's other two daughters. Rosa Fabbiano, who was taking care of her mother and had the keys to the house.
The Carabinieri of Milan, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, are digging into the life of this family, given that the context of this atrocious crime is still to be clarified: in addition to the exasperation for a difficult life, with the elderly woman not self-sufficient and suffering from serious senile dementia, and with the entire burden of care on only one of the three daughters, who also had to look after her disabled husband and who was in precarious economic conditions.
Lucia Cipriano, 84 years old, was found murdered in her apartment in a building on Via Boves, in Melzo, yesterday morning shortly after 10. Her youngest daughter, who lives in Trento (another lives in Melzo and the one arrested and now accused in Mediglia, also in the Milan area), had not been able to contact her mother for some time and the excuse her sister had invented, that it was necessary to transfer her to a nursing home, no longer held up.
So she came in person to check on her conditions yesterday, and found her sister who with very suspicious behavior tried to keep her away from the house, and once inside did not allow her to open the bathroom door. Such strange behavior that it even scared the relative, until the older sister broke down and told her that she had "made a mess" asking to be taken "to the Carabinieri".
So the two got into the car but while they were going to the barracks the woman had a crisis, starting to scream and trying to escape into the fields. At that point the younger sister called the military who, after having tracked her down, had them accompany her to the house and made the macabre discovery of the body in the tub, covered with a plastic sheet sealed with adhesive tape which, among other things, could have caused the death of the elderly woman, already debilitated, by asphyxiation.
Even in front of them the woman made partial admissions, but then decided to avail herself of the right to remain silent. police They also found the clothes that the old woman was wearing, partially burned, as well as the saw used to dissect the body, and now everything is being subjected to scientific examinations to see if the fingerprints match and if perhaps someone else may have helped the alleged perpetrator in the murder.
Smoke, among other things, had been noticed by a neighbor coming out of the apartment around mid-April, a period compatible with the days following the crime. While waiting for the forensic anthropology exam on the remains, the woman is in the San Vittore prison, where the preliminary hearing will take place soon, perhaps next Sunday. The prosecutor who coordinates the investigation, Elisa Calanducci, is preparing the request to validate the arrest.
