Auànno (which in archaic Neapolitan means "this year") is the second video-single of KamAak excerpt from the EP “Imperfect Disconnect” published by the INRI Classic label.
The song is available on all digital stores and is also published with a video clip by director Anna Castiello. The second piece of the trilogy dedicated to the elements, traditions and ancient cultures of the Vesuvian area is added to "Onne", the first song that celebrated the creative/destructive force of the Creator Vesevo.
The duo, composed of violinist and performer Stella Manfredi and bassist and producer Luigi Castiello, continues their personal introspective journey between tradition and innovation with “Auànno”.
For this composition, ethnomusicological research concerns the cult of the Madonna, a religious expression that has a very strong connection with Neapolitan society. KamAak has thus started in-depth studies on some of the most important Marian rites in Campania: the Feast of the Madonna delle Galline in Pagani and that of the Madonna dell'Arco, among the most popular and ancient born in the mid-15th century; capturing and recording live the typical soundscapes of these rites.
Festivals and popular traditions represent the history and identity of a territory and a community. Historical reenactments and the maintenance of festivals and traditions that are repeated year after year constitute a cultural heritage to be preserved and passed on and represent excellent resources also capable of implementing local development processes.
After two years of these rites being stopped due to Covid-19, KamAak, with a team of video makers and photographers, captured the fervor of a people in valorizing traditional gestures that they had been deprived of.
For the video that accompanies Auànno, Deva reappears, the little girl with lava-colored hair who was already the protagonist in “Onne”, who in a space-time continuum stops exploring the sea and is ready to recall the past that will help her, once again, in the search for her identity.
