Camorra: assets worth 6 million euros seized from an entrepreneur of the Zagaria clan.
Today, the Carabinieri of the Special Operations Group and the financial police of the Organised Crime Investigation Group of Naples have carried out, between the provinces of Naples, Caserta and L'Aquila, a decree of seizure of assets furniture, real estate and financial assets for a value of approximately 6.500.000 euros.
The provision was issued by the Section for Preventive Measures of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere – at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office – against Joseph Fontana, related by kinship to the deceased Francesco Zagazia, known by the nickname of Ciccio 'a petrol, brother-in-law of the boss Michele Zagaria, having married her Sister Elvira.
Giuseppe Fontana, currently in prison, also known as Pino or Pinuccio, entrepreneur in the construction sector, originally from Casapesenna, but permanently domiciled in Caserta, was definitively convicted of mafia association having participated in the organization operating in the province of Caserta and in other areas of the national territory, called clan of the Casalesi – Zagaria faction.
His involvement in the investigation conducted by the ROS of the Carabinieri called Sistema Medea directed by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples and concluded on 14 July 2015, with the execution of a custodial order in prison, against, among others, Giuseppe Fontana for the crimes of mafia association, external participation in mafia association, corruption, fictitious registration of assets, disclosure and use of official secrets, disturbed freedom of auctions, illicit financing of political parties and other crimes aggravated by mafia purposes.
The economic and patrimonial investigations conducted by GICO have allowed the identification of a significant amount of assets held by Giuseppe Fontana and the members of his family unit, not justified with respect to the declared income and economic activities.
The seizure, in particular, concerns 33 properties, of which 26 are located in the province of Caserta, 6 in the province of Naples and 1 in the province of L'Aquila, 4 lands in the province of Naples, 3 companies with headquarters in the province of Caserta operating in the construction and real estate sector, 5 motor vehicles and financial reports.
