The four days of the Mediterranean Diet Exhibition sees the presence of 100 researchers and scientists involved in discussion panels, over 500 students and teachers, 50 chefs, gastronomic experts.
And also tasters, journalists, critics and hundreds of buyers, professional operators, 100 exhibiting companies, including 30 wineries, 20 consortia and trade associations and it has around 30 events including moments of dissemination and training with experts and researchers on nutrition, environment and health, show cooking with starred chefs, masterclasses and tastings for wine, truffle and cheese enthusiasts, workshops on buffalo mozzarella from Campania and the typical fusilli from Felitto pulled with a wire.
An event that hosts a versatile and varied world of work, thanks also to the presence of small farmers, fishermen but also innovators, investors and startup leaders, witnesses of how the Mediterranean Diet is an incredible universe of people, each fundamental with their own contribution.
This morning, starting at 10 am, the first of the “Mediterranean Conversations” scheduled in the program of the event will be held in the former Tobacconist’s Cafasso factory, which coincides with the last stage of the Eu Agrifood Week promoted by the Future Food Institute, in collaboration with the Representation of the EU Commission in Italy.
The inaugural ceremony will be opened by Franco Alfieri, mayor of Capaccio Paestum, with institutional greetings from Stefano Pisani, mayor of Pollica, Nicola Caputo, Councilor for Agriculture of the Campania Region, Michele Cammarano, President of the Internal Areas Commission of the Campania Region, Tommaso Pellegrino, Commissioner of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, Tiziana D'Angelo, Director of the Paestum and Velia Archaeological Park, Alfonso Andria, President of the European University Center for Cultural Heritage of Ravello.
Also speaking will be Ciro Romano of Cnr Iriss, Valerio Calabrese, director of the Living Museum of the Mediterranean Diet, Sara Roversi, president of the Future Food Institute, Emilio Ferrara, president of the Edamus Consortium, Alex Giordano, director of Rural Hack and professor of Marketing and Digital Transformation at the Federico II University of Naples.
This will be followed by scientific contributions from Danilo Ercolini, director of the Department of Agriculture at the Federico II University, Massimo Clemente, director of Cnr Iriss, Stefania De Pascale, vice president of CREA, Alessio Fasano, president of the Ebris Foundation and professor at Harvard Medical School in Boston. At 13 pm, a show cooking by Marco Cefalo, chef at In Cibum, is scheduled.
In addition, today and tomorrow, from 10 am to 17 pm, the “One Health” hackathon will also take place, with the awarding of projects created by students from hotel, tourism, sports and agricultural institutes. The students were asked to represent their idea of the Mediterranean Diet and its role in the lives of the new generations.
To celebrate the moment, the presence of Antonio Parenti, head of the Representation in Italy of the EU Commission and local institutions. The fair complex is accessible free of charge, from 10 to 17. The exhibition area will open tomorrow, at 15, while, from 20, the internal garden of the Ex Tabacchificio will inaugurate the food area "Convivio Mediterraneo", a gastronomic space that presents taste itineraries, musical and literary meetings.
