Maddaloni. The largest theme park in Europe will be born in Maddaloni, in the province of Caserta: it is called Ludo & Felix, and its objectives are to reawaken the flow of tourists and create new opportunities, with an induced effect also for the commercial activities of the area.
The new park will be built on an area of 100 hectares on the site of the former Cementir quarry in Maddaloni; an area larger than that where Disneyland Paris was built, with its 58 hectares, and Gardaland, currently the largest theme park in Italy. Ludo & Felix will be divided into two different communicating areas: Ludo, the theme park that will cover 40 hectares and Felix, the cultural center, which will be developed on 60 hectares.
An innovative project, presented during a press conference held in Capua, made possible thanks to an investment of 400 million euros, of which 270 million from the PNRR funds and 130 million from private individuals, and which will contribute to creating employment in a depressed area such as Caserta, with 3500 new job opportunities, including direct employees (1500) and indirect ones from the related industries (another 2000).
"The metropolitan area of Naples - says the mayor of Maddaloni Andrea De Filippo - is the only one to date without a tourist-cultural accommodation facility, which is in line with modern Italian structures. It is clear that this large and innovative project, which can also contribute to environmental redevelopment, can be realized only if the conditions of absolute harmony between companies and public bodies exist".
"The Maddaloni-Marcianise area - adds De Filippo - is in a prime position in terms of territorial mobility, both for southern Italy and for the connection between the coastal areas and the internal areas of the Peninsula. An intervention of this kind becomes a work of completion in an organic sense, which can give impetus to the territory and which could translate, in the space of a few years, into an economic flywheel such as to completely modify the socio-economic structure of the area".
“40% of the park – explains Filippo Ferdinando Gustavo Vettone, the creator of the project – will be allocated to popular shareholding, and the related profits will be assigned to local institutions to be reinvested in the province of Caserta”. Next week the project will be presented to the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca
