Gennaro Scarpato and Pasquale Palma, in the role of “Otakkiò & Otammè”, are among the most appreciated artists of this edition of Made in Sud, broadcast every Monday on Raidue. Their return to the show, after their experiences in theater and cinema in recent years, marks the beginning of a new phase of their artistic journey, certainly more mature and which seeks to look at and refer to another type of comedy.

“Otakkiò & Otammè” is an artistic proposal that tells the story of the annihilation of the human being. The two artists experiment, combining traditional comedy with the theater of the absurd, Neapolitan slang with British nonsense.

It is a difficult task to tell the story of today's generation by bringing on stage two individuals who are now standardized and completely destroyed by the times and who, almost, do not talk and do not look at each other anymore. The result of the experiment is certainly alienating and successful.

Gennaro Scarpato also has another painting on the stage of Made in Sud, where he tries his hand at the comic reading “La parola di Gegiù”, a performance focused on linguistic tightrope walking and puns, which Scarpato loves so much as an author. As an actor, however, he enjoys giving a biblical and high-sounding tone to Pindaric word games and visionary passages taken from a hypothetical gospel written by a brother of Jesus who has not yet ascended to heaven.

The monologues of Pasquale Palma, who returns to the stage of Made in Sud also with the historical character Eddy Scampia and with the crazy “guardame a me”, are acting performances in which he offers a comically cynical and wicked vision of birthday dedications, with a style that winks at the 'comedians' and 'acrobats' of the past. An inverted vision of the usual and hypocritical greeting cards that are written for the occasion and addressed to all those people we pretend to love.
