Melito. A note to the prefect of Naples Claudio Palomba to denounce the hypothesis of a possible «omission to the detriment of the role of control and guarantee of the municipal councilor». The person sending the note to the representative of the Government is Nunzio Marrone, councilor of the Maresca Group at the Municipality of Melito, who explains the matter as follows: «On April 22nd, I submitted a formal request for access to the documents, to shed light on the methods and number of authorizations issued by the Municipality of Melito in reference to the “rental from a garage using a car with driver” service, driven by a consolidated suspicion of a lack of transparency in this regard.
Since then, neither the relevant offices nor the mayor have taken action to allow me to carry out the necessary checks". "I am very worried - continues Marrone - because not only have I been stripped of the powers of control and guarantee that, like every councilor, I am called to exercise by law, but also because such non-compliance suggests that there is no will to open Pandora's box. Why don't they respond? What is hidden behind this wait-and-see attitude?"
"I therefore felt it was my duty to request - the councilor says - in the exercise of his power to guarantee and control institutional activities, an intervention by the prefect of Naples, so that the mayor, the general secretary and the head of the first sector of the Municipality of Melito are ordered to respect the law", he concludes.
