Napoli. Summit between Confesercenti Napoli and the Municipality of Napoli on tourism, on the eve of the summer season. It happened yesterday at Palazzo San Giacomo, between the representatives of the tourism world of the association and the councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities Teresa Armato.
Leading the delegation was the president of Confesercenti Naples and Campania and national vice president (with responsibility for the South) Vincenzo Schiavo. On the table were proposals for the administration in order to make Naples increasingly attractive, modern and efficient in welcoming tourists from all over the world.
Confesercenti has made several proposals related to the strategic points of Neapolitan tourism, namely: guaranteeing safety and fighting against illegal building; optimizing the port area; different management of roads and public spaces in the areas most affected by tourist flows; urban decorum with waste management, implementation of lighting and public bathrooms; guaranteed transport even on holidays; advance promotion of events; increased technology to make the city increasingly “smart”; different management (on holidays) of the most important monuments in Naples; revaluation of areas less frequented by “classic” tourism.
"The meeting with Councilor Teresa Armato was very useful to study what the contribution of Assoturismo-Confesercenti should be in welcoming tourists who are choosing Naples in increasing numbers. We are satisfied - reported the president of Confesercenti Naples and Campania Vincenzo Schiavo - because we received a wide availability from the Councilor to listen to the experiences of the 15 representatives present from the different categories of the world of tourism.
Confesercenti Napoli's interest is not only to live the present but to be able to plan for the future. With this in mind, we have illustrated our proposals that range from technology to the optimization of the port area. Our goal is to not be caught unprepared by a tourism that is arriving and that will offer increasingly important numbers to Neapolitan operators".
In the dossier delivered to the councilor, Confesercenti highlighted how 2022 - in relation to the tourism sector - is starting to give comforting answers after the two dark years linked to the pandemic. The goal is to return to the levels of 2019, probably the best year for tourism.
Naples was the first municipality in the South with approximately 3,9 million visitors. The recovery began in the second half of 2021 (in the summer, an average occupancy of 75% was recorded for the structures), the recent long weekends of April 25 and May 1 are the prologue to the summer of 2022, when full houses are expected.
"There will be more and more tourists in the city - commented Schiavo - and the problem of legality is the first on the list. Reporting illegal immigrants is a duty for everyone, whether they are those in the transport sector, guides or managers of B&Bs and guest houses. All those who illegally try to rape tourists arriving in Naples must be reported.
We hope for an effort from everyone so that tourists are pampered by all the components of the tourism world with efficient and modern services. Our mission is that they serenely experience the beauties of our land, so that they want to return. During the meeting with Councilor Armato, we reiterated the availability of the best professionals in the sector linked to the Confesercenti network to help the Municipality of Naples in improving the reception of visitors".
In addition to Vincenzo Schiavo, the following people spoke at the meeting with Councillor Armato: Roberto Pagnotta, Marco Bottiglieri (Assoturismo Coordinators), Gennaro Lametta (Federnoleggio and Assoturismo coordinator), Paola Ciaramella (Assohotel), Marco Fiore (Federagit guides), Paolo Cappelli (volcanological guides), Enzo De Pompeis (SIDED discos), Vincenzo Capozzolli (Aigo, B&B and Guest Houses), Antonio Viola (President Fiepet Naples),
Luigi Auletta (Weddings and events), Francesco Ferrara (Assoviaggi-travel agencies), Armando Chiantese (Young Entrepreneurs).
