Napoli. Fired with a press release issued before he was notified of the official provision. All because of an altercation with a superior over a history of breastfeeding leaves of absence of an employee.
This is the story - which concerns an Eav union representative - brought to light by a written question from the regional councillor of the League, Severino Button, and addressed to the president of the regional council of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca. The representative of the League himself made it known.
“On May 5th,” Nappi explains, “a press release signed by Eav srl was sent to the press and then published in some newspapers, in which the company announced that it had to proceed with the dismissal of one of its employees on the grounds that he had behaved rudely towards a superior, without ever subsequently apologizing for his regrettable conduct.
Following subsequent notes signed by some trade unions, it emerged that the dismissal measure in question had been made known to the press even before being communicated to its recipient".
The question specifies that "the worker held the position of union representative and that the incident that led to the serious company measure occurred, in the opinion of the trade unions, during a heated discussion that arose between the worker and the human resources manager over the granting of breastfeeding leave to another employee, who was being supported by the latter through the union".
For these reasons, in his question Nappi asks Governor De Luca not only whether the information provided by the unions is true, but "whether the President of the Regional Council shares the line of conduct adopted by the company according to which, where the union confrontation takes on harsh tones and even results in 'strong' expressions, the company deems it appropriate to use, towards union members who are also employees, the tools and powers inherent in the hierarchical relationship inherent in the subordinate employment contract instead of the usual ones of the harsh union-company dialectic" and whether "it is true that, shortly after the events, the company actually granted the worker concerned the permits requested by the union member and why up until that moment no action had been taken".
