Naples. NAS Carabinieri Inspections: In Five Months, Seizures and Administrative Fines for Three Million Euros.
The Carabinieri of the NAS of Naples carried out, during the first four months of the year, 659 health and hygiene inspections, of which 220 were found to be non-compliant, aimed at protecting public health in the sectors relating to public and private health, compliance with the legislation related to the pandemic emergency, health professions, control of drugs and narcotics, food safety, anti-doping, livestock, animal welfare, cosmetics and safety in the workplace.
In particular, administrative seizures worth over 3 million euros were adopted, 366 administrative sanctions were imposed for an amount of over 400 thousand euros, 129 people were reported to the administrative authorities.
The checks involved hospitals, veterinary clinics, dental practices, analysis laboratories, beauty centres, accommodation facilities for the elderly, school canteens and food production laboratories.
Significant results were obtained in the context of health and hygiene inspections carried out on restaurants, bars, dairies, butchers, pastry shops and bakeries, with the seizure of approximately 4 quintals of food without food traceability and the closure of 19 facilities worth over 2 million euros.
Administratively seized due to their non-conformity: medical devices, cosmetics, phytosanitary products, medicines, dangerous objects, toys and gadgets/carnival products.
The most frequent violations, relating to the food sector, are the supply of frozen foods not indicated as such on the menu and the sale of fish products of different quality and origin than that declared on the label.
