The first section of the Assize Court of Naples (president Teresa Annunziata, associate judge Giuseppe Sassone) sentenced Pinotto Iacomino to life imprisonment.
The man, originally from Ercolano, is accused of having killed his companiona, the 40 year old support teacher Ornella Pinto, mother of a 5 year old boy, at the dawn of March 13, 2021 in Naples. A murder committed despite the presence of the child in the house.
Last May 3rd, at the end of his closing speech, the deputy prosecutor of Napoli Fabio De Cristofaro (of the Vulnerable Groups section, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Raphael Falcone) asked for the maximum sentence for the defendant who, according to investigators, went to his partner's house in the early hours of the morning, already armed with a knife.
The sentence came at the end of the deliberation chamber which began shortly before 15pm, immediately after the defense speech of the lawyer Mario Terracciano, Iacomino's lawyer, which lasted four and a half hours and concluded with the delivery to the judges of a memorandum of over 114 pages, focused on the non-existence of the three contested aggravating circumstances: stable cohabitation, premeditation and particular cruelty (13 stab wounds were inflicted that morning).
