Napoli. Every evening at Napoli Piazza Garibaldi is transformed into a huge souk. The various stalls, improvised on makeshift tarpaulins placed on the ground, which form the large “garbage market”, where every sales and hygiene-sanitary regulation is violated, take place on the enormous square in front of the Central Station.
“Every evening in Piazza Garibaldi, tourists who are left speechless, this is our bad calling card. Something should be done for the image of the entire city. I spoke with a hotelier in the area who told me that by now all the bad reviews from tourists who have stayed there derive from this outrage, he also told me that they have made many complaints and reports but everything continues” - this is the umpteenth complaint received in this regard by the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli from a disappointed and embittered citizen.
“Piazza Garibaldi and the entire Vasto district need concrete, decisive, severe and also rapid interventions to regain control of the situation
This garbage market, which represents a real 'attack' on decorum, hygiene and safety, as well as being an affront to regular traders, who have been struggling with covid and the economic crisis for years, is a big problem that we have been denouncing for a long time but nothing has been done or, better, nothing has ever been wanted to do to resolve it. We need a change of direction, we need to start administering the city in the true sense of the word." - were the words of Councilor Borrelli.
