Zevs' work in Ponticelli and the one that Jorit is realizing in Scampia renew the city's vocation to be the European capital of art, at the same time demonstrating an attention to the suburbs that combines urban regeneration and valorization of public heritage".
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, explained this this morning during the presentation of “Operazione Oro”, the installation by the French artist who transformed the façade of the “Marie Curie” institute into a luminous golden panel.
A leading figure in European street art, Zevs achieved the gilding effect by exploiting the chromatism of thermal blankets used in rescue operations. An integral part of the work is a fake advertising poster containing the image of one of the sails of Scampia, also gilded, an iconic representation of its rebirth.
