Napoli. To push 18-year-olds to recruit other peers willing to illegally pocket cash with the “18app culture bonus”, the offer was advertised on “intermittent” Instagram profiles: “Bring a friend and earn 50 euros”.
The circumstance emerged in the context of the investigation by the Financial and Economic Crime Investigation Group of the Guardia di Finanza NAPLES, which today, coordinated by the Neapolitan Prosecutor's Office, has dismantled one of the criminal associations that, on social media, lure 18-year-olds to illegally "monetise" the "18app culture bonuses" of the Ministry of Culture, which have also been renewed this year and reserved for new 18-year-olds who can use them to purchase, exclusively, tickets for cinema, music, concerts, cultural events, books, museums, visits to monuments and archaeological parks, theatre and dance, audiovisual publishing products, music courses, theatre courses and foreign language courses, as well as subscriptions to newspapers, including in digital format.
Since the business had become so huge, the procurers (who were responsible for luring 18-year-olds), in order to avoid attracting the attention of investigators, also began to have their shares paid into the bank accounts of compliant friends and acquaintances.
Investigators are currently identifying the boys who lent themselves to the scam against the Ministry. It was precisely on the report of the ministry headed by Minister Franceschini that the investigations began.
