Telese, trial begins for alleged injuries caused by two surgeons operating at the San Francesco Clinic.
The trial of two health workers, VA and PMA, surgeons operating at the San Francesco Clinic in Telese, accused of alleged injuries inflicted on a woman during a hysterectomy, as well as alleged forgeries in relation to the drafting of medical documents, defended by Lawyers Vittorio Fucci and Cosimo Servodio, was held before the General Manager of the Court of Benevento, Dr. Perrotta.
In particular, according to the Public Prosecutor, the two health workers, during a hysterectomy surgery, allegedly caused permanent injuries to the patient due to negligence and incompetence, and then allegedly falsified some clinical documents. The patient, a civil party, is represented by the lawyer Antonio Barbiere, while the clinic, as the civil party responsible, is represented by the lawyer Andrea De Longis junior.
The hearing was characterized by the long questioning of Prof. Carlo Balbi, in his capacity as defense consultant for the defendants, already a well-known academic and author of hundreds of publications on obstetrics and gynecology.
Prof. Balbi was subjected to numerous questions by Lawyers Vittorio Fucci and Cosimo Servodio, as well as by the civil party Lawyer, Antonio Barbieri. Two health workers from the “San Pio” Civil Hospital, Dr. De Fortuna and Dr. Tripodi, who treated the woman at the hospital after the first operation at the San Francesco clinic in Telese Terme, were then questioned.
Finally, Dr. Colella, a health worker at the San Francesco clinic, and Dr. De Rosa, a member of the operating team, were heard. At the end of the investigation, the Judge rejected the request for additional evidence, through the hearing of new witnesses, advanced by the civil party's lawyer and adjourned the trial, for discussion, to 06/10/2022.
