Naples, drug trafficking in Ponza: 5 members of the group that also managed drug dealing in Rome and the province of Naples arrested
The Carabinieri of Formia, at the request of the Cassino prosecutor's office, executed a precautionary order against eight people (5 under house arrest and 3 under obligation to report to the police) held responsible, to varying degrees, for drug possession and dealing.
In particular, the investigation concerns the criminal group that managed drug dealing on the island of Ponza as well as in Rome and in some municipalities in the province of Naples.
The investigation was conducted by the Carabinieri of the Operational Section of the Formia Carabinieri Company starting from August 2020 following the death of Gianmarco Pozzi, which occurred in circumstances still to be clarified on the island of Ponza on August 9th two years ago and for which investigations are still ongoing.
The drug supply channels, in particular cocaine and hashish, have been identified both in the capital and in the hinterland of the Campania capital.
With particular reference to the first channel, the investigations have revealed an important drug dealing area active in the Laurentino 38 district of Rome. With regard to the illicit activity in the southern area of the Capital, the investigations have documented a significant turnover (revealed by the same suspects during the interception activities) of five thousand euros per day with an overall turnover of approximately 150 thousand euros per month.
