Bullying, Falco (Corecom Campania): “Alarming data on child violence with 5 minors at risk”
Passariello (Pascoli Institute): “What is posted on the web remains forever, young people often don't pay attention to this fact”
"We cannot remain impassive in the face of the alarm raised by the DDA of Naples regarding the violence involving minors in our region. In 2020, five thousand children under 18 had to deal with criminal justice.
47% of Italian juvenile detainees come from our region. A fact that can no longer be ignored and that requires a strong response from the institutions, starting with the education of our children”.
These are the words of Domenico Falco, president of the Campania Regional Communications Committee, during the webinar @scuolasenzabulli promoted by Corecom Campania in collaboration with the Campania Regional Council, which saw as protagonists the students of the state comprehensive institute "Giovanni Pascoli" of Benevento coordinated by the vice-principal Maria Taddeo.
“Corecom and the Regional Council of Campania – continued Falco – they are implementing the prevention campaign on bullying and cyberbullying in all five provinces of Campania and to give a concrete signal to those who might be victims of these phenomena that there is a safety network made up of the school, the family, local institutions and the police that can help them get out of this tunnel by finding the strength to report”.
The meeting was opened by Rosetta Passariello (headmaster of the Pascoli Institute): “For years, our school has promoted awareness and information initiatives on the issues of bullying and cyberbullying thanks to collaboration with the police who help alert our children to the dangers of the web.
Being able to navigate online is a precious resource for knowing what is happening around the world but, at the same time, it is a resource that must be used with extreme caution.
We need to explain to students that everything posted on the web remains indelible, also influencing our future life. We think that today even those who have to hire a person monitor the digital reputation of the same and therefore we must be very careful about how we behave in the digital world”.
The students received the speech of Gennaro Oliviero (president of the regional assembly): "We have a duty to protect the new generations from the dangers of the web and the reckless use of new technologies. Precisely for this reason we are engaging in training and prevention campaigns both for bullying, investing schools and families on this problem, and on cyberbullying which is an even more dangerous phenomenon because it often catches families unprepared to face the emergency.
Corecom is called to this activity that it has been conducting for four years to support the victims and to give concrete signals that it is possible to overcome the emergency only by not isolating oneself and finding the courage to report”.
