A 57-year-old man from the province of Avellino was found dead after falling 150 meters off a cliff while out hunting for mushrooms on Mount Partenio.
The alarm was raised by his friend who was with him, a 49 year old originally from Capriglia Irpina, like the victim, who was also involved in the fall and suffered minor injuries. He was admitted to the hospital in Avellino in shock.

The accident occurred in a rugged mountain area, on the border between the Irpinia municipalities of Sant'Angelo a Scala and Pietrastornina. It took several hours to locate the point where the victim fell: an aircraft from the Pontecagnano Fire Department was also used.
The recovery operations of the body were also particularly complicated, involving the Carabinieri, Alpine Rescue and a team of Firefighters from the Avellino detachment.
