Blackout on the Amalfi Coast: Generators Arrive

After a night in the dark, a morning of inconvenience on the Amalfi Coast due to last night's power blackout.

The teams of technicians of E-Distribution they are trying to limit the inconvenience. And so early in the morning in various parts of the Coast were transported current generators in different countries, so as to support the medium voltage lines.

Two power stations, that is, large continuity groups, with tool cables that allow a sort of bypass to be made to the damaged electrical lines, have been installed in Pogerola, upper fraction of Amalfi and in the municipality of Scala to try to limit the inconvenience especially to hotel and non-hotel facilities and, of course, to private users.

The excessive heat of recent days has put the systems and the medium voltage line to the test and under strain, aided by the energy overload determined by the high number of tourists in the area.

Around 11 this morning the technicians definitively repaired the fault, restoring the electricity grid to its normal configuration. E-Distribuzione continues to monitor the electricity grid throughout the area.

Since about 21.30:XNUMX pm yesterday, the centers of Amalfi, Atrani, Ravello, Minori, Maiori and Tramonti have been without electricity. Five breakdowns in succession that have the Divine went haywire already taken by storm by tourists from all over the world.

The first blackout in Amalfi, during the procession of Saint Andrew which saw an extraordinary participation of faithful and tourists: they were the smartphone display to accompany the statue of the patron saint in the final stretch of the procession, creating an evocative atmosphere in Piazza Duomo.

Meanwhile in Piazza Flavio Gioia, a American tourist was invested while crossing the street. The 36-year-old originally from Pennsylvania, but resident in Milan, ended up ruinously on the ground.

The investor, a young resident, said he did not notice the woman's presence due to insufficient artificial light. Rescued by a 118 ambulance, the tourist did not suffer serious consequences but was taken directly to theRuggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno, because in the Castiglione hospital the radiology instruments were out of order due to the lack of electricity.

Throughout the night, E-Distribuzione technicians and workers have worked non-stop and continue to do so to deal with the emergency.

A TRAMONTI this morning the lack of electricity has prevented dairy production. Problems for bakers too. Since 7.30:XNUMX the situation seems to have returned to normal but remains precarious: the medium voltage line cannot withstand the heat and the excessive load due to the growth in energy demand.

Yesterday a blackout had affected a large area of ​​Naples, but the situation was resolved quickly.
