One of the worst heat waves in recent years looks set to dominate Italy for at least another 10 days, especially in central and southern Italy. With the African anticyclone, temperatures have already reached 42-44°C in the shade in the south and Sardinia, but temperatures will rise sharply further across Italy, and higher temperatures, with peaks of 45°C, are not ruled out.

These are the forecasts of Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist of the website www.iLMeteo.it, who confirms the possibility that some June records will be broken, with the mercury column rising up to 39-40 C in Rome and Florence, 37 C also in Naples on the sea.

“The greatest danger of this wave of heat – he explains – it will be the duration: the blanket and the heat could persist in Italy until July 4-5, with some isolated thunderstorms only in the Alps and in the North-West; the Mediterranean is already recording 5 degrees above average. No significant precipitation is expected for at least 10 days but the extreme drought, present especially in the North, Tuscany, Lazio, Puglia and Calabria will worsen”. In detail Saturday 25. In the North: prevailing good weather.
