Covid in Italy, 56.386 new cases, 40 deaths and positivity rate at 21,8%

The covid curve in Italy is still rising.

There are 56.386 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, compared to 55.829 yesterday but above all 34.978 last Saturday. The swabs processed are 258.456 (yesterday 238.069) with the positivity rate dropping from 23,5% to 21,8%. The deaths are 40 (yesterday 51). The total number of victims since the beginning pandemic thus rises to 168.058.

Intensive care units are stable (yesterday +9): they are stuck at 225 with 28 daily admissions. The number of patients in intensive care units continues to increase.and ordinary parts: there are 137 more (yesterday +141) for a total of 5.342 hospitalized. The region with the highest number of cases is the Lombardia with 8.115 infections, followed by Lazio (+ 6.992), Veneto (+ 6.613), Campania (+5.908) and Emilia Romagna (+4.546). Total cases since the beginning of the pandemic reach 18.184.917.
