Drobs more than 10 lonely elderly people and runs over two 12-year-olds, a 36-year-old Bari criminal arrested
He allegedly robbed more than ten elderly people, gaining their trust and managing to enter their homes, then distracting them and stealing money and valuables. On one occasion, while driving a stolen car, he also allegedly hit two 12-year-olds on a pedestrian crossing.
The agents of the Bari mobile squad have notified a 36-year-old Bari woman, a criminal, already detained in the Taranto prison, of a precautionary custody order for numerous episodes of aggravated theft. The contested facts refer to 2021 and 2022.
The suspect, the investigations reconstructed, would have chosen her victims, always elderly and lonely people, "precisely because they are generally alone and therefore more vulnerable", always using the same fraudulent technique. After having identified the victim, that is, she would have approached her on the street and convinced her to return home, where, after having distracted her, she would have managed to steal money and everything she found of value.
The men of the Hawks, after having acquired images taken from the city's video surveillance cameras, managed to identify the woman, who was then also recognized by many of the victims when they filed a complaint.
Among the reconstructed facts there is also the accident involving the two twelve-year-olds, who suffered injuries that would take 10 days to heal, hit on the pedestrian crossing by a car, stolen shortly before, with the 36-year-old at the wheel.
