San Giorgio, waste: the ecopoint opens at the covered market. The trolleys have been delivered to the florists, the colors of the bags will soon be changed to differentiate more efficiently.
The second ecopoint inside the covered market in via Bachelet reopens, thus bringing the number of operational locations to two, where you can collect bags for separate waste collection. After the transfer of services to “Velia Ambiente”, Mayor Giorgio Zinno, in agreement with Councilor Carlo Sarno, has agreed that this point will remain open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8.00 to 12.00, while the other in via Mazzini is available to citizens, every day - from Monday to Saturday - from 9.00 to 13.00. In both ecopoints, citizens will be able to collect the four-monthly kits with bags for waste collection; ask the operators for information on separate waste collection, on the days and collection points for special waste, including WEEE and used oil and possibly book the collection of bulky waste.
It is necessary to bring your identity document with you. The collection date will be marked and stamped on a special card, thus certifying the delivery. Those who already have it can continue to use the previous card; on the contrary, those who do not yet have it can collect it and fill it in for the first time, at one of the two ecopoints. I also anticipate that the colors of the bags for separate waste collection will soon change, making them more easily recognizable, in order to make waste differentiation operations more efficient and immediate for citizens and operators.
Furthermore, this morning the trolleys were delivered to the florists in the area, including those in front of the cemetery, where only the grass cuttings and pruning waste will be deposited, the disposal of which, among other things, costs much less than wet and undifferentiated waste.
"With the transition to the new company which took place in May – explains Mayor Giorgio Zinno – we are implementing various activities of which you will be progressively informed: from the simplification of waste differentiation by residents, to raising awareness among citizens which is a fundamental tool for continuing to understand the importance of separating materials for the purposes of respecting the environment and our territory”.
