Capri, Cilento, and the Sorrento Peninsula are the queens of summer: "The Most Beautiful Sea" is back with new vacation ideas, the Blue Guide from Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano. For over twenty years, it has provided an annual overview of the peninsula's most beautiful and sustainable seaside resorts, offering a Five Sails vacation.

Today the presentation and award ceremony of the Cinque Vele 2022 in the suggestive setting of the Island of Capri, at the Paradiso Congress Center in Anacapri; within the two-day event organized by Legambiente and CNR to take stock of national policies for islands and coastal areas and the resources provided by the PNRR for these territories.
The guide by Legambiente and Touring Club does not claim to be a census of Italian seaside resorts but represents a selection based on criteria mainly inspired by the quality of the water and, more generally, attention to the environment.

There are a total of 98 Italian tourist areas identified on the basis of data collected by Legambiente on environmental characteristics and the quality of hospitality. The data were integrated with the evaluations expressed by local Clubs and the crew of the Goletta Verde.

The rating given to each area, from the 5 sails assigned to the best to 1 sail, is the result of in-depth evaluations. The parameters are divided into two main categories: environmental quality and quality of accommodation services.

In Campania the 5 sails fly along the coast south of Salerno which includes the Ancient Cilento and the Costa del Mito. In fact, the Cilento Antico tourist area (with Pollica-Acciaroli and Pioppi, Castellabate, San Mauro Cilento and Montecorice) and the Costa del Mito (with San Giovanni a Piro-Scario, Camerota, Centola-Palinuro and Pisciotta) were awarded 5 sails.
Even the areas awarded the Four Sails can be considered places of great excellence, capable of combining a quality territory with good level management of services.

The Four Sails fly in Campania: the Amalfi Coast wins with 4 sails (with the municipalities of Positano, Cetara, Amalfi, Vietri sul Mare, Praiano, Maiori, Minori and Conca dei Marmi) and the Island of Capri (with the municipalities of Anacapri, Capri,) and the Sorrento Peninsula and AMP Punta Campanella (Massa Lubrense, Vico Equense, Sorrento, Meta and S. Agnello).

"A guide - comments Mariateresa Imparato, president of Legambiente Campania - to choose a summer dedicated not only to clean sea but to a tourism that focuses on the environment and inclusiveness. A new holiday compared to that of twenty years ago, more aware, made up of outdoor experiences, excursions by bike or trekking, visits to historic villages and refined moments of well-being thanks also to a solid collaborative relationship with local administrations and operators in the coastal territories of our country. The Campania locations at the top of the ranking are those that will have the best chance of winning the challenges of the future, those that are able to best combine environmental issues with economic development prospects, that will be able more than others to seize the opportunities that will come from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and translate them into an opportunity for rebirth and strengthening of the economic fabric and, above all, the social fabric. Because - concludes the president of Legambiente Campania - to get out of this crisis we will have to be not only stronger, but also greener."

Legambiente's Blue Guide also includes other Campanian areas. With 3 sails we find Costa di Elea (with the municipalities of Ascea and Casal Velino); Costa di Poseidonia (with the municipalities of Agropoli and Capaccio-Paestum) and the Kingdom of Neptune (Ischia, Procida and Bacoli). Closing with 2 sails is the Gulf of Policastro (with the municipalities of Sapri, Vibonati, Ispani and Santa Marina-Policastro)
