Visit to Poggioreale prison this morning for the mayor of Naples Gaetano MANFREDI, who as part of the “Naples, city of music” event met a group of inmates together with the prison director Carlo Berdini, the regional guarantor of inmates Samuele Ciambriello, the councilor for Labor of the Municipality of Naples Chiara Marciani and the mayor's delegate for the music and audiovisual industry Ferdinando Tozzi.
At the end of the meeting, rappers Paky and Geolier performed. “You are citizens of Naples like everyone else and we intend to take care of you,” MANFREDI told the inmates. “We know the problems of a facility like this and we will seek, to the extent of our competence, a solution to overcrowding.
As a Municipality, we focus a lot on educational activities: we are working to be able to use previously trained prisoners in public utility jobs that allow them to reintegrate into society. Bringing music into prison means believing in the value of culture as the first response to the needs of those who suffer and ask to regain dignity”. Ciambriello highlighted “the ability of music to arouse emotions and experience a moment of sharing”.
