Napoli. “The beaches with limited access are a request that came to us from the Port Authority, which has jurisdiction over maritime state property. There is an issue of overcrowding on some beaches that are difficult to access, a safety problem that has been highlighted and deserves responsibility”.
The mayor of NAPLES Gaetano said it Manfredi on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new Dorn research center at Molosiglio. On the protests of Neapolitans for limited access to the city sea, Manfredi specified that "the Authority asked us to replicate the ordinance that had been issued for covid reasons in recent years and maintain it to guarantee controlled and safe access to the beaches.
Now, at the request of many citizens, we are discussing it with the Port Authority to increase the access quotas. It is clear that there is a physical space that must be occupied and safety must also be guaranteed: for us it is a great burden to verify and control access.
This however is a big problem independent from the theme of bathing and concessions and the lack of access to free beaches, these are themes brought forward in recent years by the Port Authorities and therefore on the entire theme the competence of the Municipality does not exist, but we believe that it is important to guarantee the possibility of bathing for the Neapolitans. It is obvious that we have two large sites in the eastern area and in the western area of NAPLES that must be recovered for safe bathing to give another beach to the Neapolitans”.
