Naples, terrorist network linked to Amri discovered: 4 arrests

In the early hours of the morning, the State Police executed 4 precautionary measures issued by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of Naples.

According to investigators, the 4 belong to the network of Anis Amri, author ofterrorist attack of 2016 at the Christmas market in Berlin which caused 12 victims, later killed during a police check in Italy, at the Sesto San Giovanni station.

Following a complex investigation coordinated by the DDA of Naples, the agents of the Digos of the Rome Police Headquarters and of the Central Directorate of the Prevention Police, assisted by the Digos of the Police Headquarters of Naples and Caserta, they executed the custody order which orders the prison of three people, a Senegalese, a Guinean and a Ghanaian and arrest for a quarter foreigner from central Africa, part of a chain dedicated to document forgery operating in the provinces of Naples and Caserta.

One of the four recipients of the precautionary measure, thanks to the effective and valuable collaboration of the Judicial Authority and the Dutch Police, was tracked down during the night in Rotterdam and arrested by virtue of the European Arrest Warrant requested by District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples.

From Naples they procured false documents for terrorists

Competition in forgery, recycling of identity documents Italians, aiding illegal immigration and receiving stolen goods are the crimes contested by those arrested.

The investigation, which arose from the investigative developments following the attack on the Berlin Christmas markets in December 2016, began with the analysis of the relational circuit of the well-known terrorist Anis Amri and allowed the dismantling of a criminal association that, in recent years, had supported the production and delivery of false Italian documents to illegal immigrants, of which Amri himself had been a beneficiary.

In the viewfinder of the investigators also others 70 Guests, in large part of Tunisian and Central African nationality, residents throughout the national territory, subjected to searches, by Digos territorially competent, having emerged in various capacities in the activities attributable to the criminal organization under investigation.

Furthermore, the activity was focused on dtwo typographies in Naples, identified as production centres of counterfeit documents, and on a money transfer used for suspicious financial transactions.

The operation is therefore part of a broader investigative context aimed at hitting criminal organizations engaged in criminal activities, also instrumental to militants of terrorist groups, and led to the arrest of a total of 19 people and the execution of 100 searches throughout the national territory.
