Boom tourists for the towns of the Amalfi Coast that have already seen a significant increase in tourist presence since last May. But this influx has led some mayors to increase safety standards.
In fact, in the municipality of Ravello, a night surveillance service has been active in the historic center since last night. A solution implemented by the municipal administration led by mayor Paolo Vuilleumier to nip in the bud the phenomenon of nighttime noise from groups of drunk tourists returning from wedding banquets.
There are about 500 weddings in total (civil, religious and symbolic), especially of foreign couples, booked in Ravello from last April until next October. The agreement stipulated through the electronic market of the public administration by the Municipality of Ravello with Selpol srl, a security institute based in Roccapiemonte, provides for two units in service for four hours a day, from 23 pm to 4 am the following day, until October 31.
Cost of service 18 thousand euros plus VAT, an amount that will be covered by the revenue from the tourist taxrno. The surveillance service will cover the square and the surrounding areas of the historic center, where two men in uniform and armed will be constantly and simultaneously operational.
“Ravello is a town that makes tranquility its calling card and to protect this asset we must guarantee silence and respect for the rules for everyone – the mayor of Ravello declared to AGI, Paul Vuilleumier – the large influx of tourists since May has led us to guarantee the service at a time when the municipal police force is not on duty”
