The Roymundo Festival at Dum Dum Republic with the extraordinary artistic direction of musician, producer and composer Roy Paci.

The sixth edition of the Festival, starting next July 3, has been made official from the suggestive arena that rises on the sea. It is characterized by musical research and experimentation, for its being outside the mainstream logic. A festival that is born, above all, from friendship and passion.

Roymundo is a sound patchanka, but it is also a civil and social commitment, as the artistic director Roy Paci underlines: “I am very happy with what is happening around this happy island called Dum Dum Republic, but you could also call it freedom or love. It has always been a place of great rebirth, of life, of love, of musical connections – Roy emphasizes – I'm happy because we're relaunching a project that started almost as a game a few years ago together with Biancaluna.

In this historical moment, after two years of Covid and music stoppage, it is a wonderful sign for the restart of one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic. It means restarting music".

RoyMundo is part of a robust summer lineup at Dum Dum Republic.

"For the sixth edition I invited and I thought of involving friends and bands that have a common ingredient which is contamination, not sectorial or radical – explains Roy – You can't live without music and without that vibration that you experience in concerts and DJ sets.".

In 26 years of activity, with its constant sound research, Dum Dum Republic is among the most recognized cultural spaces in Campania and in Italy also for other festivals, which increasingly choose the beach club of Paestum for their previews.

"Dum Dum has become a point of reference for the presentations of various Festivals, think of the MaCo of Paestum, or the Ariano Folk Festival of which we will announce the line up, in the perspective of connections and the meeting between the various musical genres of the various corners of the world – underlines Biancaluna Bifulco, founder and owner of Dum Dum Republic – The philosophy of Dum Dum is precisely that of meeting, of exchange: without it we are all poorer from a cultural point of view. It is good for humanity to give each other music".

Music without barriers that will see the presentation of Rototom, the international reggae festival, at Dum Dum Republic on July 10th. Representing it, at the press conference, Lampadread, a pioneer of reggae in Italy, who has collaborated with Rototom for 25 years as a resident DJ, originally from Campania, and a reggae icon also at Dum Dum Republic.

"The role of music is crucial in an activity like mine, linked to welcoming, hospitality, to spend a happy day. It is worth much more than the equipment, the scenographic aspect – Biancaluna highlights – We have tried to give value to poetry and music is the element that gives a concrete identity, with courageous choices, not following trends. The important value is to give shape to new musical sounds, looking for them elsewhere".

A summer lineup that started with The Skatalites and ended with Almamegretta, but there will also be collaborations with the Metys Festival, created by a group of young people from Salerno who fight against gangmastering, between musical meetings and concerts with the kids who work in the fields.

The RoyMundo Festival starts on July 3, 2022 with Swing Groover, an electro-swing group, Sicilians from Bagheria, who have distinguished themselves in various international festivals. A very interesting explosive mix, the leader of the project Adamantina has a very beautiful and particular voice. A truly very captivating project.

On July 10th it's the turn of Mellow Mood, a true representation of reggae, even if young, with a very important link with roots reggae (the reggae of the origins) which is very traditional, with innovative touches.

On July 17th, the show will continue with a live set with an international flavour. On July 24th, one of the most explosive groups will arrive, which is the Istituto Italiano di Cumbia, a collective of various musicians who will alternate on stage.Bringing them all would be impossible because there are 50 of them. – explains Roy – It is a fusion of many projects together to ensure that this Latin and cumbia genre is transmitted and conveyed".

On July 31st there will be DJ Spyke, who is one of the founding minds of Boomdabash. “We are very happy because it is one of those very exciting live sets.".

Then we come to the founding fathers of reggae in Italy, they are Africa United and they will be at Dum Dum Republic on August 7th.

On August 21st Quartiere Coffee, another more innovative reggae group from Grosseto, while on August 28th Ayom from Portugal in collaboration with Ariano Folk Festival.

The Sweet Live Society on September 18th, a collective of musicians from Turin and its surroundings, with a mix of electrofunk and electronic patchanka.

On September 4th our gigantic, iconic Almamegretta are back in style with their new album.

Roy Paci has a visceral bond with Dum Dum, where he will be performing live these days bringing his new single “Happy Times”, which he defines as “a hymn to freedom".

"I wrote it in Spanish, I had this desire to say let's take back the night, one of the most beautiful Latin phrases is 'romper la noche', because nights are made of concerts, of DJ sets, of that very important atmosphere that allows you to experience the magic of the concert in an epidermal way, with its connections. A vibration".
