As part of the checks carried out by the NAS on a national scale, in the province of Salerno an ethnic food shop has been closed.
In the shop, legally represented by an Indian citizen, the inspection revealed poor hygienic and sanitary conditions, such as the presence of rat excrement on the work surfaces, on the floor and on the display shelves of food products for sale; inside the shop, rudimentary mousetraps, cobwebs and previous dirt were also found in all areas.
7,6 quintals of food products were seized (flour, semolina, rice, sugar, spices, tomato juice and potatoes), including some packages gnawed by rodents. The value of the measures adopted amounts to 200.000 euros.
During the same operation in Salerno and its province, three businesses were closed, 15 were warned for hygiene-sanitary/structural deficiencies, a further 250 kg of food was seized (in addition to the 7,6 quintals indicated in the note) and 25 litres of oil without traceability, and the failure to implement the self-control plan was contested.
