The scammer couple's gold cellar was discovered thanks to cash-dog "Grisby" of the Linate Financial Police group.
The financial police of the Milan provincial command, as part of investigations coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out the emergency preventive seizure, later validated by the investigating judge, of assets and availability worth approximately 5 million euros against two spouses from Bergamo, respectively de facto and de jure administrators of a limited liability company operating in various commercial sectors.
The execution of the aforementioned real precautionary measure became necessary following a house search delegated to the economic-financial police unit of Milan by the judicial authority for tax and bankruptcy crimes.
In particular, during the search of the villa of the entrepreneur couple, the cash-dog "Grisby" of the Linate Guardia di Finanza group reported a specific portion of wall inside a cellar covered with wooden panels; following a careful inspection, the financial police identified a removable panel under which was hidden a real vault protected by an armored door with an access code.
Inside the same, the military found over 2.584.500 euros in cash divided into bundles of different denominations and stored in travel suitcases, 40 watches of various international luxury brands with a total market value of approximately 1.300.000 euros, as well as diamonds, jewels, gold bars and over 2.600 gold and silver coins, for a value of approximately 1.000.000 euros which the suspects had at their disposal without any plausible justification.

From the investigative activity carried out, with specific reference to the income analysis of the investigated spouses, a notable disproportion of the values found inside the vault and seized emerged, compared to the gross income declared to the Tax Office by the couple in the last ten years, equal to a total of 235 thousand euros.
The service action, carried out in close synergy with the judicial authority, demonstrates the daily commitment of the body to protect the economic and financial security of the country, with particular reference to the fight against tax fraud and bankruptcy crimes, which can alter the correct functioning of the market, leading to forms of unfair competition to the detriment of honest entrepreneurs.
The Guardia di Finanza highlights that the criminal proceedings are still in the preliminary investigation phase and that the responsibility of the suspects will be definitively ascertained only if an irrevocable sentence of conviction is issued.
