A fight between inmates occurred last Friday afternoon in a section of the Arienzo prison.
The news was announced in a note by the national secretary for Campania of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police (Sappe), Emilio Fattorello.
The union representative reports that the situation has been brought back to normal by the staff present. However, one prisoner refused “to enter his cell, continuing his protest action by threatening the staff.
The Surveillance Inspector, without the support of experts, began a work of persuasion that went on for hours. The prisoner, who was bleeding from facial injuries resulting from the clash with other inmates and from wounds to the forehead caused by self-harming gestures, sprayed his own blood on the person of the Inspector who received several blows to the shoulder and neck”, we read further in the note. And only a few hours later it was possible “to put the agitated man back in his cell.”
“We would like to point out the work of the Penitentiary Police personnel who, without the use of suitable tools (teasers) or the assistance of other professionals, managed to calm the prisoner down”, we read again in the note.
