arzano. Funeral homes between ghost agencies and the cumbersome presence of the clans. No control over the companies, violation of the mortuary police regulation. An anomaly so to speak that even the citizens of Arzano would have noticed in these weeks on the city streets.
In fact, there would be several funeral companies, not from the area but from the Ponticelli district and perhaps Calvizzano, that in the city are managing the funerals in place of the only company present which, most likely due to the lack of suitable documentation, would have "stopped" providing the funeral transport service.
It would not be just a hypothesis therefore, nor even a rumour to be verified, given that arzano the “dear deceased” business has already seen attempts to consolidate the activity in antithesis to the free market, to the detriment of other neighboring companies. Management of the service that was one of the reasons for the dissolution of the Municipality of Arzano in 2015 and 2019. The funerals are reportedly taking place before everyone's eyes, without any on-site checks to verify the personnel and resources involved.
All of this presumably also in violation of the municipal regulation approved by the extraordinary commissioners which requires registration in the appropriate municipal register (as well as the regional one) in order to be able to carry out funeral transport activities. And as proof of how much this activity attracts the attention of the clans, the arrests and anti-mafia interdictions issued following the investigations carried out by the Carabinieri of the local branch in 2019.
The local police officers under the command of Colonel Biagio Chiariello revealed further behind-the-scenes details, also bringing to light the links between some individuals identified during the funeral and a boss from the neighboring Casavatore area who had already been involved in previous investigations and sentenced to over 20 years in prison for murder.
The investigations, still ongoing, have revealed an interest such as to raise suspicions of the existence of tacit agreements between funeral companies in order to establish real "cartels", from which it would not be possible to cross the border so as not to alter the balance imposed by the criminal organizations.
The discovery would have come as a result of meticulous investigations carried out by the municipal police who, through stakeouts and inspections, also ascertained the posting of funeral notices considered "anomalous" with the defacement of walls and tax evasion with the failure to pay alms to the municipality of Arzano.
The presence of “anonymous” funeral posters would have accelerated the investigations, which then led the agents, always committed to fighting tax evasion and protecting urban decorum, to pay particular attention. In fact, many wall advertisements would have been found to have no registered logo or not fully identifiable, a detail often used by agencies to hide the company name of the operating company, as a ploy to evade taxes and avoid administrative sanctions or even useful to cover up proximity to criminal and underworld circles.
During the checks, the local policemen ascertained that the movement of the coffins from the deceased's house to the church and towards the cemetery would have taken place under the "watchful eye" of individuals burdened by numerous police records and linked to top-level members of organized crime. Also arousing the "curiosity" of the municipal police was a company operating in the Avellino area which, from what emerged, would appear to be a "ghost" company, that is, without a registered office and for which further investigations will be carried out subsequently by those in charge.
