The case of the Ascea eco-monster, owned by the Diocese of Vallo della Lucania, ends up with the Pope.
The structure transformed from a religious institute into a luxury beach resort, a stone's throw from the archaeological park of Velia, has become the subject of two letters from the President of the Angelo Vassallo Foundation signed by the President of the Dario Vassallo Foundation, one addressed to His Holiness Pope Francis and one addressed to Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference.
For the kind attention of His Holiness Pope Francis
Dear Holy Father,
I am writing to inform you that in Cilento, in the land of the Fisherman Mayor, the Church, His Church, personified by Ciro Miniero, Bishop of the Curia of Vallo della Lucania, in the province of Salerno, is renovating in Ascea Marina, in the places where the Eleatic Philosophy of Parmenides and Zeno was born, an old building located close to the beach, close to the sea, to transform it into a luxury resort, with 149 rooms, swimming pool, playground, a soccer field and a paddle court.

The experience of Cardinal Angelo Becciu has taught Bishop Ciro Miniero nothing. But I am not surprised. I met the subject way back in 2011, when I personally went to the Curia of Vallo della Lucania and made a verbal request to have on loan for use a ruined and abandoned little church, located in pollica, in order to renovate it at our expense, and with the intention of making it the headquarters of the Angelo Vassallo Foundation, dedicated to our brother. Then a formal written request followed.
The choice of this Bishop goes against all Christian logic, it is enough to remember that the concreting of the coast was one of the evils fought by the Mayor of Pollica Angelo Vassallo, killed on 5 September 2010.
As far as I can see, the sirens of the god of money are heard and listened to even in His Church. Stop this outrage. Oh, I remind you that to my written request for the ruined and abandoned church, Bishop Ciro Miniero has not yet responded. This is not the Christian church in which we were raised.
