“We have 11 wells at Asi of Benevento that could provide industrial water to the companies of Ponte Valentino, and with a water purifier also drinkable water, but due to lack of resources we cannot activate them. I wrote to President De Luca, to the Government Commissioner Zes Romano, to Vice President Bonavitacola and to Councilor Marchiello so that they lend a hand to the territory”.
This is what the president of Asi of Benevento Luigi Barone said about the serious water crisis that is affecting the entire country. “The Asi Consortium – Barone writes in the letter sent to the Region and the Zes Commissioner – is the owner of 11 wells falling within the industrial agglomeration of Ponte Valentino, structured as follows: a well field composed of 5 wells built at a depth that varies between 40 and 50 meters, located in the Z5 area of the agglomeration, within a single lot; 6 wells, of a depth of over 20 meters, for the exclusive use of some lots and precisely: Collective Services Center, former Management Center, Intermode (railway freight yard), consortium purifier, Industrial Rustici and Z1 lifting station”.
The Asi president explains in the letter: “Unfortunately, with the flood event of October 2015, the wells were severely damaged and the Consortium was unable to provide for their restoration, not having adequate financial resources. The potential of the well field alone (n.5) exceeds the flow rate of 12 liters per second”.

The Consortium has planned the restoration of the wells by providing for the following activities: restoration of the functionality of the wells; creation of a photovoltaic field to power the pumping pumps; conveyance and purification of the pumped water to the existing tank, currently fed by the Biferno aqueduct; distribution of water through the existing network to the entire industrial area of Ponte Valentino.
For Barone "the implementation of the interventions described would bring the following advantages to the agglomeration: a decrease in water supply costs for companies located in Ponte Valentino especially for those with high water consumption; the agglomeration would be managed through an integrated and autonomous water system independent of external supplies; the current water resource used by the agglomeration, coming from the Biferno aqueduct, would increase the water resource of the city of Benevento, also in consideration of the historical moment characterized by a strong water crisis, which affects the entire national territory", concludes the president of the Asi of Benevento
