Avellino, they attacked ATMs with explosives: 3 Foggians arrested by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Avellino.
A gang specializing in ATM robberies was identified and arrested by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Avellino. The criminal group was composed of three people originally from the province of Foggia who had been raging in Alta Irpinia for several years, attacking, even with the use of high-powered explosives, ATMs of banks and post offices.
The investigations, coordinated by the Avellino prosecutor's office, charged the suspects with two attempted thefts at two ATMs in Calitri (Avellino), dating back to July 2020.
Thanks to images from municipal and private video surveillance systems and telephone records, investigators traced the perpetrators who were also charged with the theft of the car used in the robbery, stolen in the previous days in Santa Margherita di Savoia (Bt) and then set on fire in the countryside of Alta Irpinia.
At the request of the Chief Prosecutor, Domenico Airoma, the investigating judge of the Avellino court issued an order of precautionary custody in prison for aggravated continued theft, also through the use of explosives.
