Avishai Cohen guest of the XXVII edition of Pomigliano Jazz in Campania. The Israeli bassist, singer and composer returns to the festival directed by Onofrio Piccolo for two exclusive concerts, with two different formations and projects.
On Saturday 23 July at the Vesuvius National Park Museum in Boscoreale, he will present his latest album “Shifting Sands”, released in May this year with his new trio lineup, which includes the exceptional pianist Elchin Shirinov and the young and talented drummer Roni Kaspi. A concert that includes new original compositions along with fan favorites and the repertoire of his vast discography. Opening DJ set by Neapolitan producer Marco De Falco.
On Sunday 24 July, instead, he will be the protagonist with Raiz of the long-awaited sunset concert on the summit of Vesuvius. On the edge of the Gran Cono crater, Avishai Cohen and Raiz, together with Francesco Nastro at the Fender Rhodes, will give life to an original project commissioned by the festival, with the evocative title: “Mmiezo/Baemtza”. A special concert, in a highly evocative location, which draws inspiration from Neapolitan and Sephardic Jewish songs, passing through jazz, Israeli pop and the Mediterranean tradition.
The event at Vesuvius is a unique experience and the concert represents its central part. For this reason the public is asked to observe some fundamental rules, in order to fully live this emotional experience.
TIMES: The meeting is at 16.30:1.000 pm at the XNUMX meter high square in Ercolano, where there are refreshment points. From the square, you will walk up accompanied by volcanological guides, along a series of extraordinarily panoramic hairpin bends that lead to the edge of the crater. You will watch the concert sitting on the floor on cushions. The musicians will play until sunset. At the end of the concert, you will return to the square, always accompanied by volcanological guides.
To best experience the event, comfortable equipment is recommended: sports or trekking shoes, sweatshirt or k-way. The uphill hike is of medium difficulty.
Considered one of the world's greatest bass players, Avishai Cohen returns to the stage after a long period without international tours: "I've missed the stage, my fans and touring in general so much. I'm so excited to perform live and find my audience again, in safer environments and conditions: music heals."
The 16th edition of the Pomigliano Jazz festival will be held from 31 to 2022 July XNUMX and this year too it will be itinerant: in addition to Pomigliano d'Arco, the events will be held in Avella, Boscoreale and on the crater of Vesuvius.
