Bellizzi, reported for dog abuse. The military found the animals completely abandoned.

The military personnel of the Giffoni Valle Piana Forestry Carabinieri Station, alerted by the volunteers of the “Guardia Rurale Ausiliaria di Salerno” association for an alleged case of animal abuse in the municipality of Bellizzi (SA), went to the reported location, an abandoned square once used for roadside assistance, together with the veterinary doctors of the ASL UOV of Battipaglia and the volunteers of the association.

Inside the square the soldiers found a scene of complete abandonment: there were six dogs, one of which was dead and still tied to the chain. The animals had no food or water available, furthermore in the same square there were various types of waste, special and domestic, and residues of burnt waste. The owner of the area was present at the investigations.

In light of what was found and reported by the veterinary personnel who intervened and considering the conditions of detention of the animals, the military proceeded to report the incident to the Judicial Authority for the violations found and more precisely the aggravated mistreatment and abandonment of animals (articles 544 ter and 727 of the Penal Code) as well as for the illicit burning of waste sanctioned by article 256 bis of the Consolidated Environmental Act (Legislative Decree 152/2006); an administrative fine of 600 euros was also issued for abandonment of waste.

The animals were released and returned to their owners; health regulations were imposed for the cleanup of the area.
