Biorfarm and Cinecittà present the Cinema Orchard for environmental and social sustainability at the 52nd Giffoni Film Festival.
On Tuesday 26 July, Biorfarm, the first digital agricultural community, will illustrate an ambitious project led by Cinecittà: a digital orchard made up of small agricultural businesses from all over Italy that can be supported by the audiovisual world. Leading the way are world-famous studios with the adoption of 250 trees: a commitment to support 4 businesses in Lazio that also contributes to the absorption of CO2
Every choice to protect environmental and social sustainability can contribute to building a better future for us and our children.
From this awareness was born the Cinema Orchard, a collective digital orchard born from the collaboration between the Giffoni Film Festival and Biorfarm, the latter in partnership with Cinecittà.
The Cinema Frutteto is launching an innovative movement, destined to last over time, which aims to contribute to the affirmation of an audiovisual industry increasingly attentive to the issues of safeguarding biodiversity and sustainability, supporting and protecting the Italian network of small organic farmers.
The Cinema Orchard is a large digital orchard, which will contain the individual orchards of all the companies in the sector that wish to participate by committing themselves to environmental and social sustainability.
On Tuesday 26 July, on the stage of the Impact section of the 52nd Giffoni Film Festival, a cross-section particularly interested in safeguarding the Planet, Biorfarm and Cinecittà will take the stage to officially present the Frutteto del Cinema and their strategies in terms of environmental sustainability.
Cinecittà, the first Italian audiovisual company to support the project, has adopted 250 trees from organic farms from the Biorfarm network, offering support to 4 companies in Lazio, with a view to protecting small-scale agriculture in Lazio, the region where some of the world's most famous film studios are located. Cinecittà's participation in the Cinema Frutteto also represents the Studios' commitment to ecological issues thanks to a project that focuses on responsible food production and the support of a much shorter supply chain with a consequent lower environmental impact.
“Biorfarm was born from a farmer for farmers, with the aim of bringing people closer to the beauty that the countryside and nature offer, but above all to make them aware of what is behind the fruit and food that arrives on the table” says Osvaldo De Falco, Administrator of Biorfarm. “We are a community of over 100 organic farmers throughout Italy and the adoption allows us to use digital to connect two actors who are often too distant but have always been linked, those who produce food and those who consume it. This ambitious project allows us to raise awareness in the audiovisual industry, among the most polluting, on important issues related to environmental and social sustainability”.
The project also helps absorb 15 tons of CO2 per year.
