This incentive system was born from the will of the European institutions to improve the quality of transmission and resolution of television broadcasters. Therefore, the European Community has forced TV operators to cede the 700 MHz broadband to mobile operators and to use more advanced technologies. In this regard, in order to continue to watch TV with high resolution and transmission quality, it is necessary to adapt and adopt new systems. This is what the bonuses made available by the Italian government are for.
What were and what are, more precisely, the bonuses available?
-
TV-decoder bonus: active from 18 December 2019 and will remain active until the end of 2022. This bonus is intended for the purchase of more advanced generation televisions compatible with DVT-B2 standards. The bonus amounts to €30 and is aimed at all families with an ISEE of up to €20. Furthermore, the bonus is individual per family: this means that each family will have access to and can request only one bonus.

Those who pay the Rai license fee through electricity bill or F24 form and all over 75s (from December 2020) resident in Italy and exempt from paying the fee (according to article 1 of law no. 244 of 2007). Decoder bonus “at home”: the last incentive of the TV Bonus is precisely this, accessible only to all citizens aged 70 or over, with a pension of up to €20 per year. This bonus is applied to all decoder devices compatible with Dvb-T2/Hevc technology that do not exceed €30 of list price.
The first two bonuses (TV decoder bonus and TV scrapping) are cumulative but only for those who meet all the requirements. The decoder bonus "at home" cannot be cumulated with the first (TV decoder bonus) but it can be cumulated with the second (TV scrapping bonus).
