Camorra, they asked for a bribe of 5 thousand euros in the name of the “friends of Cardito” to local entrepreneurs but the courageous denunciation of some of them led to the handcuffs being put on the wrists of the two

And so this morning at the Aversa prison and the municipality of Afragola, the Carabinieri of the Casoria Company, have executed an order for the application of the precautionary custody measure in prison, issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples at the request of the local Anti-Mafia District Directorate, against Vincenzo Avverso (already detained for another cause), 27 years old and of Luigi Tornarelli, 54 year old (whose order was carried out by State Police personnel) considered to be seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of the crime of attempted extortion aggravated by mafia methods.

The investigations, conducted by the military of the Afragola Carabinieri Station, personnel of the Naples Flying Squad and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, were started following the formalization of complaints of entrepreneurs of some companies in the Cardito area (operating in the wholesale trade of household goods, food distribution and road signage sectors).

The investigations were developed through checks on the territory, continuous information activities, analysis of the systems of video surveillance and subsequent photographic identification by the victims who recognized the two alleged perpetrators of the attempted extortions in a time period between the end of July and November 2021.

In particular, the activities carried out have allowed, in summary, the identification of two perpetrators of attempted extortion aggravated by mafia methods to the detriment of four commercial firms in the territory of Cardito who, on several occasions, have submitted to their respective owners, sometimes even to their employees, the request for “put in order”, or the payment of a sum of money to avoid possible reprisals; specifically, in one case, a request for 5 thousand euros was made.
