The new Camorra of Miano had imposed a “Tax” of 3 thousand euros for imprisoned wives, 6 arrests. After 3 months it increased to 5 thousand euros and 10 cents for each kg of bread.
“From now on, we are in charge here” and to be on the safe side, a well-known baker who owns various shops in Naples and the province was forced to hand over, at the end of the month, 3 thousand euros “as a (monthly, ed.) tax” on his earnings “to contribute to the 'mesate' (salaries, ed.) for the wives of the prisoners”.
It is one of the extortion episodes documented between the Miano, Chiaiano, Piscinola and Marianella districts of Naples by the Carabinieri of the Vomero Company who yesterday notified six arrest warrants issued by the DDA against as many presumed "emissaries" of a criminal group considered by investigators to be "a sub-articulation of the Lo Russo clan".
Not only that: after three months the “emissaries” showed up again to increase their “tax” from 3 thousand to 5 thousand euros, because, they explained to the victim, “…we have too many prisoners to support”. In addition to the fixed amount of 5 thousand euros, the merchant was also asked to add “…10 cents for every kilo of bread sold”, under penalty of being removed “from the bread business” in favor of the clan. The recipients of the measures are people considered by the Naples Prosecutor's Office to be highly criminal, some already members of the well-known Lo Russo clan, others young talents.
One of the victims, finding himself unable to sustain an extortionate demand of 7 thousand euros per month, filed a complaint with the Carabinieri of the Vomero Company on July 5.
